Teach to Learn

Posted on October 30, 2010

Teach 2 Learn works with a group of advocate parents and students in the Spanish-speaking community as part of a wider campaign to combat what is the second highest rate of high school dropouts in Toronto. The tutoring services serves as the trunk of a wider number of projects that branchs out from the core groups of participants, whether these are students, parents or other volunteers. These other programs develop organically from the consultations with the program participants through a series of artistic workshops and academic support. Thanks to Casa Maiz that opens  its doors to the project, we are  able to enhance.

Grupo Teatro Libre

Posted on October 30, 2010

Theatre is art, hope and healing.

To do theatre obliges us to detach from ourselves a bit so that we can come closer to the other, and at the same time, to our own individual version of existence. Coming together gives a sense of family, with joy, dialogue and modesty.  In Latin America, the theatre has also denoted a long tradition of opposition and resistance.

Silvia Tenenbaum

Psychotherapist

We would like to introduce our theatre group “Grupo Teatro Libre”. Our mission is to contribute towards a greater presence of the Latin American culture in Canada.

We are a group of people who strongly believe in human values, in the richness of our language and in the legacies of our ancestors. Our main purpose is to irrigate the seed planted by other Latin Americans.
